Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken. Is 26:16
Builders or structural engineers know what pressure is going to be put on the foundation of a building, the point from which all the whole structure rests. They understand stress testing and weight bearing, using substances that will not lose their composition over time.
Abraham looked for a city, whose builder and maker is God. God is building a structure, a spiritual one that will last, not 10,000 or 10,000,000,000 years, but FOREVER. Can you imagine who or what God would choose to use as the base foundation of this eternal structure?
"Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame. I Pet. 2:6
"Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself." Eph 2:20
What is so very interesting, it was those who feigned to be the builders, the keepers of the blueprints, they did not consider the stone God was going to use, the Chief Corner Stone worthy. The One who was to bear the weight of the eternal building of God was rejected to the slag pile. As it was then so it is today.
"The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone." Ps 118:22, Mat 21:42, Mar 12:10, Luk 20:17, Act 4:11 "Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious; but to those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone,” I Pet 2:7
"For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence."
The scripture continues to tell us what God is using to complete this eternal structure, man still rejects.
"you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." I Pet 2:7 "Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone." Eph 2:19-20
Let me ask you a question dear living stone if the foundation Stone had to be tested to bear His load, do you and I not think we as well will be tested?
Let us stop whining, thinking it strange concerning the fiery trial sent to try us. Let us remember the trial of our faith is more precious than gold being tried in the fire. Jesus Christ has qualified us to be "Living Stones", but He will also TEST our hearts. 1Pet 4:12, 1Pet 1:7, I Thess. 2:4
