Commercializing the Gospel

Steve Chase

"Commercializing the Gospel"

"When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables". John 2:14

While there is an economic element within the kingdom of God, the commercial spirit is an egregious affront to the Spirit of the Lord. We have so normalized the merchandising the gifts and things of God we hardly blink an eye at it anymore. Baalim loved the wages of unrighteousness so he kept resisting God's censure until he couldn't even hear it anymore, even the voice of a dumb ass couldn't keep him out of it. Numbers Chapters 22-25

Simon offered money to the Apostles in an attempt to get the gift of imparting the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands. Peter rebuked him saying he was bound iniquity and poisoned by bitterness. Acts 8;14-24

Both Peter and Jude tell us the "Error and Way of Baalim will be one of the major principalities of deception in the last days. II Pet. 2:15, Jude 11.

The second the commercial spirit has entered with what we do with our gifting, it has been corrupted and any anointing that was on it begins to degrade.

I'm so afraid we have become so inured in the commercialization of the gospel it will take the Lord Jesus some mighty whipping and kicking over all our business fiefdoms within His Fathers House.

His house was meant to be a House of Prayer for all nations not a venue for business ventures. His precious sons and daughters are not to be targets of product advertisements and cannon fodder for corporate agenda's. The are to be served and built up into a mature expression of Jesus in the earth. All the Ascension gifts of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher were given specifically for that purpose. To equip the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying the body of Christ. Until we all come to the unity of the faith, and to the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13

Maybe the reason the Body of Christ is so immature is those who have been gifted to mature them are to busy merchandising their gifts and callings into a personal commercial expression. They no longer carry God's heart, have refused to pick up the cross, to deny themselves.

The Father has foreknown us, turned His attention toward us and predestined that we should be conformed to the Image of HIS Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren. Romans 8:29

We have been called according to His purpose, not our own personal or corporate aggrandizement.

May We Repent
